מבוא למה צריך איגרת שנייה? מדוע האיגרת הראשונה נשלחה לתסלוניקי? היא נכתבה בעקבות ביקורו של טימותיאוס, זמן קצר יחסית אחרי שהקהילה נוסדה בעיר. טימותיאוס חזר לשאול השליח עם דיווח על מצב הקהילה: המאמינים מחזיקים מעמד למרות רדיפה (תסל"א ב 14); הם מהווים עדות למשיח בכל "מָקֵדוֹנְיָה וְאָכָיָה" (תסל"א א 7; ד 10); הם מתגעגעים לשָאוּל (ג 6); אך הדיווח גם כלל פרטים שדרשו תיקון: בני הקהילה דואגים שמא מאמינים שמתו "פיספסו" את ההילקחות; חסרים [...]

מבוא בפעם הקודמת למדנו על תפילת הפגעה (פרק א 12-11) — תפילה למען האחים והאחיות במשיח. התברר כי אין זה נכון להישאר מרוכזים בבריאוּת • בהגנה מתאוּנות ופגָעים פיזיים אחרים • בפרנסה  • באיכות החיים • ואפילו לא בְהצלחת הילדים. כל אלה חשוּבים, אבל כאשר שאול השליח מתפלל למען בני הקהילה, יותר חשוב לו שחייהם יפארו את שם המשיח: הצלחה ב"כָּל שְׁאִיפָה טוֹבָה" — כן! — אבל לִכבוד המשיח! הצלחה ב"כָּל מַעֲשֵׂה אֱמוּנָה" — [...]

מבוא בשיעור הקודם למדנו על... צר־המשיח או "אִישׁ הָרֶשַׁע"; ועל "הַמְעַכֵּב", ז"א רוח הקודש, שכרגע מונע את הִתגלוּתו. אמרנוּ שוב כי בתור מאמינים בישוע אנחנו לא מחכים לצר־המשיח. הרי הופעתו היא מרכיב מהעונש שאלוהים יטיל על העולם שמִתנגֶד לישוע. — זִכרוּ כי "אֱלֹהִים לֹא יְעָדָנוּ לְזַעַם" (תסל"א ה 9). לכן אנחנו מחכים להילקחוּת. עצרנוּ בבקשת התפילה של השליח: "אַחַי, הִתְפַּלְּלוּ בַּעֲדֵנוּ", והיה לנו ברור: אם "שָׁאוּל וְסִילְוָנוֹס וְטִימוֹתֵיאוֹס" היו זקוקים לתפילות מצד התסלוניקים — [...]
